If you are unfamiliar with the Elgato Stream Deck line, these devices integrate seamlessly with popular apps such as OBS, Photoshop, Spotify, and even PowerPoint. Elgato’s intuitive drag and drop software is so easy to use, and plug ins can be downloaded directly from the app store for added functionality.
I have been using the (regular) Stream Deck for the past year or so. This model has a 15 button display. I have really enjoyed the ease of use and shortcuts that it provides me. I recently made the decision to add to my set up, and pick up a Stream Deck Plus. I wanted to experience the greatness of the dials and the added features they bring.
All stream deck devices are completely customizable with the icons, displays, even set a personal screensaver if you choose. The stream Deck Plus is also available in white, if you prefer that over the standard black model
You could even look at a 3rd party resource for custom skins for even more ways to make your device unique,
Key Features of the Stream Deck Plus
Eight LCD Keys
These are larger, customizable, membrane-based buttons that you are able to set with any icon your choose for quick selection. They are incredibly easy to program for one or multiple tasks. They are slightly larger than the previous Stream Deck model, making them even easier to push on the fly
Four Rotary Dials
Just above the dials, is a touch bar that provides additional control, including swipe gestures to toggle between pages, allowing access to an entirely separate list of commands. This helps make this device one of the most dynamic infaces on the market
Design and Build
The Stream Deck Plus features a solid, compact design with a fixed 45-degree stand, ideal for quick glances during a stream or while multitasking. However, unlike earlier models, it lacks an adjustable stand, which might limit flexibility for some users
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Highly customizable with intuitive software.
- Tactile dials and a responsive touch bar for precise control.
- Excellent build quality with bright, clear LCD buttons.
Cons
- Premium price at around $200.
- Fixed stand limits adjustability compared to some competitors.
- Lacks wireless connectivity, relying on a single USB-C cable
Overall, I find the Stream Deck Plus to a great addition to my collection of shortcuts. If you find yourself in need of more quick buttons and not so much the dials, I may suggest the Stream Deck XL, Which has a 32 button display. But if the dials and touch screen fit your needs, then I would highly recommend adding this device to your set up.
